Hi there, I used FTP Surfer and FileZilla on 4 of my machines, some with and some without antirivus software. There is absolutely NO firewall anywhere on my machines or router. All worked yesterday and for the last 2 years. Today for no reason, I did no changes to my system, two things happen.

1. Connection attempt failed with "ECONNREFUSED - Connection refused by server,
2. Connection Failed after Transfering XXXXX number of Bytes

in this second one, I was able to view my files on the FTP server, but after trying an upload, it gave the error 2. above+

I called Godaddy, the place that hosts my website, they ran FTP tests and it worked for them.

Its like FTP application cannot leave my house.

I tried doing a Tracert command and it did

1. 192.168.0.1 (My Dlink router)
2 192.168.254.254 (My internet gateway)
3. * * * * * Request Time out
4. * * * * * Request Time out
5. * * * * * Request Time out
6. * * * * * Request Time out
7. * * * * * Request Time out
8. 173.201.60.1 (Worked at this point, thats my websites IP)

I'm left really perplexed and screwed as I am the webmaster and now cannot put any update or maintenance on the site...

Try a different FTP software. Auto FTP Manager has an easy to use interface and it is free if you use it as just a FTP client. You may have better luck with this one - http://www.deskshare.com/ftp-client.aspx

check for updates to your ftp surfer and Filezilla. I know I just had updates installed a few days ago for Filezilla.

If the problem is still there . windows has a built in firewall. make sure that filezilla and ftp surfer are on the exceptions list and the boxes are checked.

Is it on a stand-on my own, person laptop only surfing the web? Or is it interior a networking ecosystem. if so, regulations will favor to be created on the host server. If that is on your computer at homestead, examine homestead windows Firewall and make functional that if that is on, FTP site visitors is being accepted.
