My internet has been very slow lately but only on my PC, it disconnects every 10 mins or so and has really strange speeds? like it'll be fast for a min then it can barely play a youtube video then will cut out completely. and the only way of getting my connection back for a space of about another 10 mins is by taking My netgear wifi adapter out and replugging it back in. I have talked with so many people about this problem, i have figured its not the adapters which is what i originally thought and i have gone through 3 already expecting a new one to fix the problem. its not the internet i think because my phone and other devices work ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA??

its the wifi encryption and the power saving features. the pc end is implemented in a different way to the router end. each end when unsure (data corruption /misread) it will try and re-negotiate connection speed (like old phone modems do when line quality changes) . re-negotiations inevitably fail because both ends are not implementing the same way of doing things. the fix's. get two ends that like each other. OR implement as many of these as you can. 1) fix your IP eg 192,168.1.10 so that in amongst all the ****ing muddle windows doesnt keep giving you a new one. 2) turn OFF power saving features on the LAN/Wifi ports. 3) in the advanced settings for the driver for the wifi there are usually around 30 different features which have options like default/auto/a/b. Change the options for SPEED to a FIXED speed so it does not try and re-negotiate it. also change options for wifi signal eg 2.4ghz/5ghz and FIX it to just ONE of them NOT Auto. lastly use older simpler WEP encryption so both ends dont try any cleverness.

Log on to your router's configuration pages and try setting it to use various different wireless channels. This sounds like an interference issue with another nearby WiFi network, which may have appeared recently. Changing the wireless channel is the first thing to try.

Simple thing to try first is to connect your computer by Ethernet cable. If that solves the problem, your issue is with your wifi signal.
