I have the installation disks for both so when I hook up the new computer and install the router and cable modem to the new computer is that going to mess up my wireless network with the other computers of the house??? I am not good at this stuff. Will that change the IP address since it is a new computer or will the IP address of the old computer transfer to the new one? Thanks.

If you enable DHCP feature on the router with big enough IP address range, then your computer will be allocated new IP when connect to the network. Here is a simple wireless tutorial, you can read it to get better understanding on how to set up wireless network.

you are going to start by hooking up the cable modem and plugging in 1 computer to it. It is the cable companys job to get 1 on the internet and help you with the migration.

There will likely be some other changes required but your new internet service will help you with that.

It is plug and play. Just plug the new computer into an available network jack on the router. Don't worry about ip addresses, the router assigns the ip automatically. you don't have to put any s/w on the new computer.

see you later by using fact the router is a prompt router, then needless to say no desktops could be bodily related to it. it relatively is only needed for some Min's initially to configure the router and prompt settings and secure practices. After that's completed, each and every physique may be prompt. it relatively is a common setup too.
