After a bad INTERNET service from Bt i decided to go to another suppler - did the online application this afternoon and was prompted for a mac number. So i called BT and asked them. They informed me that 2 weeks ago my broadband account was terminated - I said not by me i only decided today to move supplier - he said sorry but u moved from us 2 weeks ago

I never at any point cancelled BT (they agree that they have no order from me to terminate)

but because i am not with them now - they cant generate a mac address and they cant tell me who my "new"supplier is

I have had no bills - no communication from any other supplier - and my broadband is still running (SO FAR!)

so - now i have a broadband from a Phantom supplier and BT account which was closed without my authorisation

Can someone point me in the right direction of how to obtain my mac code - because im absolutely sure that one day im going to try to log on - and no internet connection.

Pls any answers would be much appreciated

1....Im the only adult in this house - no one else could terminate the contract
2....I dont owe BT any money - they owe me money!!!

To obtain your ethernet card's MAC address is very simple.

Open up a command prompt, hold down the Windows key next to the left alt key and while you have it held down hit the R key. This will open the run command. Type in CMD

Command prompt will open. type in the following, not case sensative:

ipconfig /all

this will show you all the information regarding your networking devices. Scroll down the list until you find Ethernet adapter local area connection. The information you see will be next to physical address.

Thats the MAC address. Every card has their own unique address and never the same as another, like your fingerprint.

Even if you are not connected to the internet or a network this command will give you that information.

Hope this helped and GL to you.

Go to www.speedtest.net, it should list your ISP.

If not, go to www.whatismyip.com and take not of your IP address. Now go to http://www.ripe.net/ and put in your IP address on the right side of the page under RIPE Database Search. This will tell you who owns the IP address your computer is using.

You could also try doing a traceroute.

Click Start

Click Run

Type CMD and click OK

Type tracert www.google.com and hit enter

Watch the lines as they scroll by. The second or third line should contain a domain name, and it should be the domain name of your ISP.
