Backtrack modem chipset isn't recognized.. help from a linux expert!?

Hey everyone,
I've just installed Backtrack 4 the operating system, I'm running it on a virtual machine (VMware Workstation) On the Konsole I have a slight problem when I type the command "airmon-ng" into the konsole and it doesn't detect my modem chipset. I'm using a Linksys WPC11v4 which is a compatable moderm according to the backtrack site. Does anyone know how I can get the chipset to be recognized?
(Please take into consideration I'm not completely familar with linux operating systems, so make it basic guys :D)
