Then your screwed! You apparently already have wireless so you dont need a router so you simply need better internet.

ANYONE....IT tech Engineer lol!

If his router was set for B mode bobo, he wouldnt get ANYTHING!

You are probably the thumbs down boob giving everyone a thumb down when YOU are wrong! His game wouldnt even connect if the router was in b mode!

As for switching frequencies, he ONLY has low bandwidth to begin with and regardless the router is gonna divide it up between the 2.

My guess is considering he doesnt have a router OR broadband, he is stealing the neighbors wifi and getting an extremely poor connection to their router! READ his question again!
Anyone Know?

It could be that your router is operating in 802.11b mode, which is a very poor communication method, for reasons I'll not bore you with here.

Also, B-mode is a maximum of 11Mb/s throughput.

So, login to your router, and choose 'G-mode Only'. This has much less re-transmission & collisions, has a 54Mb/s max throughput, and should cover any laptop you have as long as it is not 5+ years old.

EDIT: Blaymay, I didn't suggest he switch frequencies, I suggested he switch modes.

He is suffereing slow-down, and has an existing connection, so making sure 802.11b is not chosen (as any one device on the network in B-mode, will force THE WHOLE ACCESS POINT to B-mode.)

Bet I'm making way more $$$ than your nasty @ss.

Where are you getting this wireless connection from, if you don't have a wireless router?

The more information that you provide us, the better our answers will be.

If you had a dual band wireless router, one that supported 802.11A (5GHz) you could put the computer on 5GHz and keep the Wii on 2.4GHz. You would still need to get an 802.11A NIC for the computer though.
