When you go to wireless settings and "scan for networks" or "view available networks" does your system even show? If not you may have your router set to N only and the 1545 may only have a G card! Playing with Ethernet has nothing to do with the wifi! There is a hardware switch on the front of the 1545 it will turn wifi off and you won't connect.

To help further, what OS are you using? Does the SSID show, have you deleted the connection and then reset it, give us useful info and we can help.

Add: if you can see the SSiD but still can't connect it can be 1. Wrong password (delete and refind the connection) 2. A static IP was assigned to the tcp/IP for the wifi adapter ( change it back to automatic) 3. A mismatch of G/N compatibility either in the router or card, set router to match. 4. Delete and reinstall the wifi adapter from the system device manager with a reboot between the two actions. 5. A bad wifi card.

plug your dell into the router with a community cable. initiate, RUN CMD hit enter IPCONFIG take the gateway handle and form it into the handle line of internet explorer (firefox or in spite of the fact that) this could take you on your router config internet site (you will desire the login and password) greater then possibly its admin admin for login and password or admin and password or sparkling and admin or some blend of that. as quickly as you're in bypass on your on the spot tab and enable your on the spot, call it setup a WEP in spite of the fact which you desire to do! then attempt connecting back.
