I don't know what "settings" you're referring to, but the steps involved are nearly identical in both Service Pack 1 and Service Pack 2. The only additional options you have in SP2 are the firewall settings. But this is under the advanced tab.

Maybe the following sites will help:

Setting up LAN on SP2 is the same as in SP1. The only difference is that SP2 has firewall which needs to be set-up.

- On the Control Panel, double-click Network Connection

- Right-click Local Area Connection and click Properties

- Click the Advanced tab, then Settings

- On the Windows Firewall window click the Exceptions tab

- Tick File and Printer Sharing, then click Ok.

Do this on all the computers on the network.

assuming that you have a recent cable/dsl modem that doesn't use PPP.oE or a USB connection to your PC, or are connecting to a LAN, here's what you do:

1: Click on Start Button, then click Control Panel

2: Double Click on Network Connections

3: Right Click on Local Area Connection

4: If 'Enable' is an option click it, if not click properties

5: In properties window, make sure the following items are checked: Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), Client for Microsoft Networks, and QoS Packet Scheduler.

6: If not all of those are checked, leave details as to which ones aren't and I'll give instructions on how to install them.

7: Highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties.

8: Make sure Obtain an IP Address Automatically button is checked.

9: Click Ok, then Ok again.

You should be able to connect to a network with a DHCP server somewhere on it ok now.

Adding service pack 2 - is never going to stop the connectivity to internet . & the setting for the LAN remains the same as SP1.

Although the SP1&SP2 doesnt require any lan settngs specifically to be configured.

for lan configuration

goto control panel >>>select network connections>>>right click ,go to properties>>> there u can specify the required parameters like ,dhcp /manually assigned IP address/subnet mask, gateway also DNS ....

No connection with sp2 for LAN settings
