Modem to router to switch?

Hi all!

I get right down to it.

I have 4 machines and a home server in my home network all wired by Ethernet cables to a 5 port tlink gigabit switch.

One port of the switch is reserved for connection to my belkin 4 port router. The one extra computer that would have gone into port 5 of the switch is plugged into the belkin for connection to the network.

The wan port of the belkin is then connected to my dsl cable modem to pass the net to all connections in my network.

So that's the setup here's the problem.

The router is constantly crashing I rarely get 30minutes before it does this and I have to power cycle again. The switch, modem and lan transfers are completely unaffected by the crash.

I have disabled upnp
I have disabled dhcp and have assigned ip address' manually
This is the second router I have tried. (buffalo nfiniti with latest wrt firmware was first)
I have used crossover cables for modem to router and router to switch.
I have tried disabling antivirus programs and windows firewall.

One thing of note is that as soon as I run vuze on the server and try some web browsing the connection dies almost immediately.

I also have a few wireless devices (3 iphones and a laptop) that operate on the network also assigned with manual ip adresses.

Please help I'm going mad with this :(

Thanks to any and all replies.

You have a problem. You replaced the router and you still have the problem. Thus it is probably not the router with the problem. How about having the dsl cable corrected or get a new modem.

It won't make lots of a distinction except one among your nodes runs swifter than the different and inner community communique speed is substantial to you. case in point: in the experience that your router does 10/one hundred, your change does 10/one hundred/1000, and you frequently do issues like back up desktops or share data over the community, you may connect your maximum used desktops and the server to the change in view that should run swifter. otherwise, whichever way is greater handy and tidy for cabling is greater advantageous.

Yes, you have to make sure where eactly is the problem, your router,or modem that is crashing
