How do you get rid of echo's on voip calls?

I work from home for a virtual call centre. I use a USB headset, and the calls are placed outbound over the internet. I can hear clearly, and the person on the other end can hear me clearly...but then when they speak they hear themselves echo. This happens on almost every call so it can't be their phones, it has to be an issue on my end. Can anyone please offer any suggestions how this can be resolved?

Thanks!

hmm. one guess is it can be caused by network delay. just a guess mind you.

another guess is it might be the echo cancelling algorithms used in the VOIP phone. perhaps you need a different kind of phone and it's time to start contacting manufacturers to evaluate phone systems (maybe they allow you to try out samples/loaners for a time period? maybe not - you can ask!).

that's a tough one. I am not an expert in VOIP. I just know a little in this area, I was focused more on FOIP right now.

It may be a problem with your soft phone. I face this issue when I place calls on hold while picking up other calls from the same extension. If your internet bandwidth is good and a single call does not face any issue, I believe this can be the problem.

maybe your volume is up too high?

or some how what comes thru your headphones goes outbound thru your microphone
