I'm building a new computer and I'm not sure if I need to get a specific WiFi card or if it doesn't matter. Is it based off the brand that your router is or???

I use Belkin USB WiFi Network adapters on 3 computers and they work just fine.

hi Lucas, if you have surround sound than you cannot go wrong with a soundblaster xfi extreme sound card but if you only have two speakers than your on hifi so get soundblaster hifi. but let me talk to you for just a moment before I let you go...if you have hifi than buy a surround sound 5.1 place them all in the same level in your room and when you play music get ready for an experience that you will never forget. let me put it this way when my friends want to play a video they come to my house and my speakers is eleven years old and still sounds like the new ones and still working. so it is worth the money to upgrade your hifi to a surround sound with this warning if you like more tint to your sound than buy a soundblaster titanium I love my base so this is why I recommended the xfi extreme sound. good luck I hope I was helpful to you

You should know the capabilities of your Wi-Fi router (does it handle 802.11 a/b/g/n signals?) then choose a USB-based Wi-Fi adapter with similar capabilities.
