RemoteDesktop is a single user solution by Microsoft. What you want to do is one of the following:



NetMeeting - allows one user to host a meeting where they can display or display/share control.



VNC - Virtual Network Computer software (was AT&T labs project if I remember correctly) allows you to share a desktop with similar controls as above. VNC is not exactly secure though but would allow you to connect with or without a password (depending on the configuration).

This cannot be done without a third party program. Remote Desktop has a glitch in it, where it will log the other person off when you log on remotely. There is a fix you can do, but it requires experience with the Windows Registry. Try to just use MSN Messenger and ask for Remote Assistance. Remote Assistance will allow you and your brother to share the same screen at the same time. Other third party programs will also work, but you cant do it out of the box.

Use a better remote software than what Windows provides.

If you're using it on a LAN, hopefully behind a firewall, then use the Free "Real VNC" found here: http://www.realvnc.com/download.html



Install the host and remote on both computers, you can then remote either way by connecting to the IP and providing the password set up on the remote computer. It's pretty simple and easy to use.

Potentially, I don't think RDP is encrypted. Also, if they are running any logging on your work computer and/or the network, they would see that as well

You want to use Remote Assistance not Remote Desktop. Right click 'My Computer' and go to 'Properties' on your brother's computer. Check the box for 'Remote Assistance'. Your brother can send invitations thru the 'Help and Support Center' or Windows Messenger.



Also, there is freeware called Real VNC. It is much easier to use and it will not log your brother out. I use it all of the time. You just launch the VNC viewer and enter your brother's IP address: http://www.realvnc.com/download.html

On your computer, go to start, then help and support. When that window opens, click into the search box and type "remote assistance." Clink on the remote assistance link and you should be able to remote to the other machine by computername or IP address. He'll have to accept the invitation on his end. Firewalls have to be down.

Remote desktop allows you log on to a remote computer. What your brother can do is send you a remote assistance request. You can find how to do it in Help. I dont believe that he will be able to see what you are doing because Remote Desktop establishes a different session other than what you brother is using.



You would need a program like PC Anywhere or a like program. A program that is free to use that is like PC Anywhere is VNC. You can download the free VNC client at http://www.vnc.com. Install the server portion on your brothers machine and install the client portion on your machine. When you execute the client it will prompt your for a computer name or IP. Alternatively you can setup the server part where you have to provide a password.



On note though is that this technology is not secure. I recommend you doing this over a secure tunnel.
