I think you're talking about your public address, which is under control of your ISP. Probably you have a dynamic IP that renews every time your modem loses connection and restarts it. You can buy a fixed IP from your ISP or use a dynamic domain to bypass this problem.



If you talk about local IP, that one is controlled from the router control panel, vía DHCP leases options.

Your IP address is lost once you lost the signal to the connection, once you come back to the connection, it renews.



You cannot stop it from changing. It's for the sake of the router not locking in ip addresses.

You need a static IP address. To do this, you can contact Support of your ISP and find out if they provide such a service. If the ISP refuses you, you can use this service http://smarthide.com

They provide a static ip address for their users, for which you can configure port forwarding.

Your ISP gives you your IP address, and they assign you a new one everytime you connect. You can usually pay extra to receive a static IP address, which will always be assigned to your computer.
