Hi people, does anyone know whether Windows Home Server allows roaming profiles? I have 5 PC's in my home and need to connect them together, each I want to have a network connection, but I want to be able to log in at any pc and have the same documents and settings each time I log in. If Windows Home Server doesn't does anyone have a solution?

Thanks

I believe darylzero46 to be wrong about this one. Roaming profiles can be implemented on any Windows 2000/XP/Vista machines that are on the same network. The key is having one central place (preferably available 24/7) to keep every user's documents (and other files) and settings (profile information). As darylzero46 said, WHS is a ..."file sharing solution for home use", which makes it an EXCELLENT choice as a centralized server for roaming profiles. I tried doing this with a NAS device, but most NAS's don't run a true NTFS file system with Active Directory; so restricting access permissions was nearly was impossible. Since WHS runs a true NTFS file system, this should no longer be a problem.

No it doesn't. WHC is more of a centralized backup solution and file sharing solution for home use.

You can do what you want on Windows Small Business Server or Windows Server Standard.

Your WHS device gets registered with your Windows Live account and is made easily-findable by authorised parties (i.e. you and anyone you designate) while on the go. You can even connect to it via Live and pipe a Remote Desktop connection to a PC on your home network through this Home-finding Live feature.

What i could propose is disable DHCP on the router. enable DHCP on the abode windows server, and enable DNS on the server, make helpful energetic itemizing centers are working, and connect each and every of the desktops to the energetic itemizing. make helpful once you place up the DHCP scope you tell it to look on the server (no longer the router) for DNS. in case you decide on analyzing supplies for abode windows Server, i decide to propose the SAMS abode windows Server 2003 Unleashed e book. Its the suited source i be attentive to of in e book style. you additionally can look at Petri IT Knowledgebase internet site, url is under.

hey, i hope you choose http://www.win8online.com

since they are the best online site i ever meet.

days ago, i visited this site recommended by tomshardware, and bought my windows 8.1 pro key.

however, i encountered a problem. the key failed to work on my original DVD. i sent the screenshot to them. they replied to me in 20 mins.

it was my mistake. my original dvd is 8 pro, not 8.1 pro. besides, they provided the download link of 8.1 pro to me FREE.

very appreciated. the key worded at the first try after i burned a new dvd. great work! strongly recommended.
