I just recently installed a new operating system on my computer and did a full restore. Now I need to set up my internet connection. When I put in my linksys disks they said to hook up the routher to the modem and connect it to my computer, and I cant do that becaue its on another computer on the other side of the house. So I need to know how I can connect my Linksys USB adapter to its Router, help(: ?

To configure the router, you should do it from a wired computer, not wireless - especially if the wireless has issues connecting.

If the router is already set up, you do not need to run any Linksys CD, just go to your wireless connections (scan for wireless networks), and away you go...

If this is part of a step-by-step wizard, then just click "next" to indicate that you have done the router to modem connection.

You shouldn't have to go through all that just to set up a USB wireless adapter - but just humour it.

Are you sure you have the correct Linksys install disk though? The procedure you mention sounds more like a router setup disk.

When you install a USB wireless adapter there is no need to set up the router again.

Are you talking about a usb wireless adapter? If you are then your router needs to be a wireless router. If the router that's across the room is not wireless it's not going to connect. If you need to replace the router with one that works with that adapter, just replace it and then use the linksys disk to set up that router to that computer.
