If your email provider does not permit SMTP sending you will never be able to send. Some only permit it on premium accounts Alternatively it may be you are using incorrect settings for the way you authenticate outgoing mail. Your settings MUST match the host settings. Only they can tell you exactly what to set, or if thay do accepts SMTP.

Web based accounts don't use smtp on front end. It is used on the backend (you don't have access).

You can't configure a email client with a web based account. Email clients (Apple Mail, ThunderBird, Outlook) use imap/pop/mapi to fetch and smtp to send.

Without some sort of authentication (and possibly SSL and different port than port 25) you may not be able to connect to an SMTP server other than your ISP's SMTP relay. Many ISP's block outgoing port 25 other than to their own relay due to many worms/viruses/trojans from infected computers trying to use SMTP to try to spread themselves.

An SMTP server that accepts mail for relay to anywhere other than itself without being from a known IP or using authentication would be exploited by spammers and worse as an "open relay", and would end up mostly being blocked as a spam relay by anyone who pays attention to that.

As mentioned, it is possible that a web based mail service does not have an SMTP server accessible to you. So you would either need to use web mail to send mail with that address, or "might" be able to send mail with that return address through your ISP's SMTP relay.

If it is your web host (hosted elsewhere than your location) that you are trying to send from, you may need to telnet or preferably ssh to your web host and use an e-mail client or program from there to send such mail.

Good Question :

SMTP is a delivery protocol only like'

Gmail :Smtp.gmail.com .

Check your SMTP setting in mail.

when you set up an email account than you'll need to use the SMTP server provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP) as your outgoing mail server.

You can probably use the SMTP server of your ISP. Check their website for details.
