Internet Connection was just fine before but now it is prompting Network Cable Unplugged, Firewalled. I have formatted my desktop twice and install a fresh Win XP and installed Ethernet driver again, but problem is still there. I have checked the device status and it is entitled with “This device is working fine”.

I have taken my desktop to another cable connection and my Desktop (Dell GX 280) starts working normally. On the other hand when I connect another desktop with the cable that I had been using before it also works normal. So both desktop and cable are working fine with different connections, but they don’t work together.

Please help me out to solve this unique and annoying problem.

It could still be a faulty cable, things like that are not particularly rare.

Each ethernet port has slightly different characteristics and often one machine or device will appear to work on a high-resistance connection while another will not.

It could also be a bad connection or damaged port on the router.

Try unplugging and reconnecting the cables at the router a couple of times to scrape any tarnish off the terminals & see if that makes any difference.

If you have a fixed ethernet cable with plugs & sockets at the end, it could also be dodgy connections in the sockets - many cheap sockets & DiY kits are abysmal quality and it's sometimes impossible to get them to work reliably, all you can do is dump the socket and put a new one in.

Open menu, network connections and look at what is displayed for the networks. Enable them from that screen. If it can't find it then the hardware drivers are not installed.
