In Win Xp Firefox ,Google Chrome and IE crash very often (Due to some virus or something else). My friend suggested I should install Ubuntu Operating System (As it is unaffected by most viruses). Now My question is If I Install Ubuntu along with windows on the same Hard Disk - will it slow my computer even more because 2 Operating Systems are in the computer..or will it solve my problem

No, it won't. Simply because only one operating system is being used at a time. However, you're only partially correct. Ubuntu is a file system, it's immune to all virii, not just most.

Choose carfully -- The newest version of Ubuntu comes with Unity, which is horrible. So you should, depending on your computer specs, either download Ubuntu 10.04 (last Gnome version) or Xubuntu 12.10.

Xubuntu is built by using the debian file system with the XFCE client manager. It's a lot faster than Ubuntu, and better for older computers.

If your new to Linux (which it's seems), twin boot. Don't use the WUBI (windows Installer). That's to install Ubuntu AS A application, no longer as an OS. It's something i might no longer propose. It's going to simulate the appearance of a dual boot setup but it is going to be hooked up as a application in your NTFS file process. Download the ISO boot it up and set up the way it was once intended to be installed. Pick the dual Boot option it is going to walk you through the partitioning and enable you to make a decision how much hard drive you need to present it. No it will now not "damage" your computer. It can be an working process now not a virulent disease. Ubuntu is an extraordinarily convenient distro to get used to.

@ Xanza: Not true. Ubuntu/Linux are operating systems just like Windows/Mac OsX. As such they can and do become infected! https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Antivirus

Your computer will not be slower if you dual boot, as pointed out, only one operating system is running at any one time.

Why not try and eliminate the infection first...

The key words here are SAFE MODE with Networking!!!

Download, (if you can't get on-line, have a friend download and copy to disc/flash for transfer) install, update and then in SAFE MODE* run full scans with these programs...

http://www.superantispyware.com

http://dl.surfright.nl/HitmanPro36.exe

**Note: Malwarebytes should be run in 'Normal Mode' unless that isn't possible!

*** Important, when downloaded/installed/updated disconnect from the internet ***

Then re-start.

Try running a couple of on-line scans afterwards to be sure...

*Note: On start up (before Windows loads) keep tapping either F5 or F8 (be aware that some manufacturers use F8 for system recovery!) then use arrow keys to highlight 'Safe Mode with networking' and hit Enter/Return, click on a user account, enter the Administrator password (if you don't know it, there probably isn't one so leave it blank) and hit Enter/Return.

"will it slow my computer even more because 2 Operating Systems are in the computer"

Doesn't matter how many OS are installed, you're only using one at a time.

I have five Linux operating systems on my drive...runs just fine.

if you want to make it EASY to instal try Wubi but this WILL slow down your computer

but if you want to do it the regular way pop in a Ubuntu cd and actually i recommend Linux Mint cinnamon i think its even easier

but put in a CD or make a usb w/ Unetbootin < usb has to be in FAT32 format

run the installer choose install ALONGside windows and you shouldn't have andy issues
