I am directly connected to the internet via DSL line and I am sharing it with two other computers. I am using a DSL modem connected via USB. The DSL modem is without router. Is there any way to check what sites they are visiting or can i have a desktop view of their activities without them knowing. They are using a data switch to connect to me.

Desktop scout is very very hard to detect. And probably one of the leading used softwares for this type of thing.

It lets you monitor with keystrokes / screenshot dumps and you can view it remotely from another computer etc.

Hope it helps

You could install a keylogger on the other computers. It connects through the PS/2 plugs or USB. Then all the keystrokes will be recorded so you can review the log later.

You can install one of the "Netnanny" Softwares that are available from the net or from SimLim. Using those type of software would enable you not only monitor the sites your kids is accessing and also maybe ban some of the not so friendly ones. Having said that, as many websites are being created every second, it is sometimes very DIFFICULT to control the sites they access. Hope that helps!

Another idea

In additon, tell them not to change ANY and I mean any settings and if they do that person will lose their computer time. Remember trust is cool but its good that you are watchin out for them. Go to internet explorer+tools+internet options+browsing history set file size to 200mb and history size 90 days! Check on this. If anyone clears this all the history will be gone though.
