How do you find out your Sky username & password?

Hey,

I am trying to upgrade my router that was provided to me by sky a few years ago. I have a Belkin wireless 802.11n modem router.

After going through the setup, it turns out that I need a username and password to set up my new router. I phoned up sky and they said they can't/won't give it to me. After trawling through some forums, there were quite a few that said to open up a file called "netgear.cfg" from your router, and that you will find it on there. I did all of this but I still can't find those details.

Is there something else that I need to do because I really want to get this sorted, and I think sky should make it much easier! Pleeeeeaaaaase help!!

Thanks

On the bottom of your router you will see "MAC" followed by XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX (X's meaning a character) and another line saying "S/N" followed by a string of letters and numbers such as - a12b3c4vjrigmg

what you will need to do is take the information under "MAC" and put it in (without the kolans) followed by "@skydsl.com"

For example username would be - XXXXXXXXXXXX@skydsl.com

for the password you will need to enter what is found under S/N on the bottom of your router

and if it asks for connection settings (e.g. multiplexing) etc then you will need the following

Protocol/Encapsulation :- PPPoA (PPP over ATM)

Multiplexing method: VC-BASED or VC-Mux

(On some routers the above 2 settings may be combined as "PPPoA VC-Mux".)

VPI = 0

VCI = 38

DSL Standard: G.dmt

Security Protocol: CHAP

That should be it

I had the same problem with virgin media. The letters I receive from them (bills, etc) contain my username and password near the header though. Perhaps Sky is the same. Check your letters
