I know this is a stupid question but can you damage your iPhones ability to pick up wifi but dropping it or whatever? Basically I have the iPhone 4 and its always been able to pick up wifi from my bedroom fine but recently it either has only one bar signal strength (it used to always have max 3) or it doesn't pick up on it at all! I know this isn't my router as works fine on all other devices and nothing has changed! It's all up to date and I haven't damaged it to my knowledge at all but I would just like to know if something can stop its ability to pick up wifi? (Ive also reset it/restored it/reset the router etc to make sure) thank you!

I am sure you could damage it. I don't have a iPhone, but my Samsung Stratosphere speaker stopped working. I opened it up, and found at least 10 spring loaded contacts connecting from the main circuit board to the speaker, the antenna, switches etc. I cleaned and re tensioned the contact springs, and the speaker works again. I am sure my dropping it many times contributed to the problem.

Note the second source describes a similar problem with the iPhone, where the antenna screw comes loose, causing the WiFi module not to connect to the WiFi antenna.

WiFi hardware in Apple devices has been known to fail. WiFi stopped working completely in a co-worker's iPhone 4S (he could not longer even turn WiFi ON). He had to get a warranty replacement phone.

If you drop something hard then its possibly anything could be damaged.
