Local Area Network problems on laptop- read details?

My laptop computer gets an excellent internet signal, but the internet will not work because the computer says that i am not connected to the local area network. Do you have any advice that will help me reconnect to the local area network and get my internet working?

Ask the person who set up your LAN for the following information:



SSID - also known as the network name

Encryption type - WEP, WPA, etc.

Encryption key - a loooong string of digits and letters( a hex number) that is the same for the entire network

IP address of the default gateway



Then, take this information and enter/compare it to what is currently in the properties window of your wireless connection. TO find that, go into:

Start Menu>Network Connections>right-click on Wireless Connection>Wireless Networks tab> select network> click Configure.



Note: in the Wireless Networks tab there is a box right at the top that says: "Use Windows to configure my wireless networks". Check that box if your network card has no management utility from the manufacturer. It will enable you to modify the parameters of the connection.

Repair the connection. Right click in the system tray on the wireless icon and reset the configuration. Your computer needs to have both a matching password and use a compatible encryption form to access the internet. Microsoft has quite a few patches that add different encryption supports and address issues that ARE NOT included in automatic updates in any form or manner. If you redo all your settings and you still cannot connect to the internet (try wired as well obviously) from the laptop then search the microsoft site for the encryption that your router is using and also look at the router manufacturer's website.

Been attempting to hook up with pals this evening and function in simple terms controlled as quickly as, no longer in simple terms an argument for me that is everyone, thats why we offered the sport to play jointly so it hasn't worked out. The lag is particularly undesirable with poor connection, yeah may be large interest, a lot of hype, spin and marketting spent on launch shame they did no longer spend somewhat extra on getting the servers and equipment to hook up with pals top!
