Port Forwarding For CCTV DVR Access?

Hi hope somebody can help me i have a CCTV DVR set up with some cameras on it. I have that networked into my home network via a Cat5 cable to my BT Home Hub. I can access the cameras by typing the ip address (192.168.1.72) into the URL of any computer on the network. I want to be able to access the cameras over the internet so when im not at home. I believe this involves port forwarding, I have found the section in the Bt Home Hub settings i believe the HTTP port on the CCTV DVR is currently 00080. Please can you tell me how i set this up and what i would type into the URL to access these cameras over the internet. Thanks A Lot, Mitch

A couple of other things to check would be if you have a STATIC IP from your provider, if yes no worries, if not you will probably need to set up with a dynamic dns service (google free ddns).



Also, I usually change the HTTP port on DVRs that I set up to something other than port 80, ie make it 81 or 100. The reason I do this is that 80 is the standard HTTP port and I don't want to risk messing anything up if I have anything else incoming.



You will need to add " : " to the end of the address you use to access the DVR, ie 192.168.1.72:81 or 65.179.115.98:81

The problem is router's settings. i.e Port Forwarding or Firewall Settings.

Port forwarding means Copying Port numbers from DVR to Modem, means every DVR have some port no. like TCP, HTTP, RTSP, UDP whatever available in DVR, that port numbers information Put in the modem's NAT/ Vertual server Page, or Go in DMZ and enter your DVR's IP do any 1 from both if not work with any one.
