Network security is what keeps people off your private network. For instance, WEP Encryption on a wireless signal from your router.
OS Security I havn't heard of, but probably means more along the lines of anti-virus' and software firewalls.

In General you have three types of security layers to worry about
1. network
2. Operating System
3. Database and/or Application
If you cannot get through #1, you can't get to #2 or #3. If you get through #1 but #2 stops you you still cannot get to #3, etc.
Basically they are different systems that rely upon each other. The DB/App requires an operating system to live on, the operating system relys upon a network to allow others to communicate to the app/db.
So basically your network security is keeping people off of your network, unable to touch your servers and applications. Operating System level security is designed to secure the data nd applications that exist on that server. Hope this helps...

Does each type of Linux operating system hold a specific purpose? Not quite. Many are very similar in purpose, providing a friendly desktop environment, or a specific embedded version, or so forth. There are differences between Red Hat and Ubuntu, but they amount to more like the differences between different cars. Sometimes they're all pretty similar, like a Camry and a Fusion. But sometimes you have a truck thrown in, or a lawn mower.

A network is an interconnection of devices although in most csaes it is the computers but in other instances it includes devices as printers/cash registers and all others that might apply! in most cases they are networked so as to save system resources like printes and so as to share an internet connection! from one computer or a router. so network security is all the measures that can be put in place to prevent any harm that can occur to the network and tis is especially as a result of virus threats and here in most cases security prrecautions are aimed at prenting threats from entering the network coz it can be hell trying to fix the effect! so here we have measures as firewalls inbuilt within the routers or inbuilt within linux operating sytems that are specifically designed as servers of networks and proxies (network) in this case you can mentiona couple of https that you hope can bring in harmfull cookies or viruses to the network and in this no one can access such Https and this keeps the network safe from externel threats especially Virus threats adware and spyware. And opearating system security is those kind mesures that are basically designed to keep the computer safe from external threats whether from a network or even when it is a standalone computer and these are also in most cases designed within the operating system like the windows firewall personal antivirus softwares like McAfee, Norton, Bit defender etc in summary these are aimed at protecting the computer safe from adwares, spywares and others!
hope that helps! ooops!

Absolutely masses. Far too much to list here.
Basically Network security controls access to network shares and resources, printers, folder shares that sort of thing. Operating systems security refers to controlling access to certain parts of your machines, what you can change, who has access to the hard drive, local administration etc etc. All depends why you want to know and what you want to do.
