If the university is blocking the ports, there isn't much you can do about it unless you have access to a server outside the firewall. Changing IPs doesn't change where you are relative to the firewall.

If you do have such a computer, you can create an ssh tunnel from your computer to the server on an open port. The server handles the port traffic and sends it back on the open port and your p2p is none the wiser.

With all that said, the ports are blocked for a reason. Going around them would be a violation of your school's policy.

Use some Global Proxies or some net sites unblocks these problems..

or Use Tunneling Software (lot are availabe , Frewares) if you can administrate your network for some time

Take your laptop to a location with wireless access (such as a cafe) and download there. Messing with campus security could have you looking for a new school.

hi

every thing is possible and its relative to policy that they use to restricting you from ports ,may be they set black port list in every computer by port blocker software or local firewall ,may be they set closed ports on their routers ,may be they set blocked port list on server firewall software ,every thing they did has its way to get rid ,may be you success or not ,but i advice you to never come around it to much because easy they can track your try to get access to closed ports if they have monitoring system on their server and server firewall too

The reasoning is that the bandwidth would be almost nonexistant with all the college kid downloading warez and pr0ns. They can and will revoke your internet service if you break the rules.
