Faster speed only improves the one hop to your ISP. Anything beyond your link to your ISP is not under your control. By the way, a ping is simply a measure of how long it takes for a packet of data to make a round trip to a server located elsewhere. It is a relative measure, not a quantitative measure. It is only good for comparison from one moment to the next. Low numbers are better than high numbers, but you have no control over any of the links outside of the one to your ISP. For a better idea of how this works, open a command window and use this:

tracert microsoft.com

tracert 134.170.188.221

You will see the times for each link between you and MS. Substitute the domain name of your choice and then compare the tables to see which links are the slowest. If you know the IP address, you can use it instead of a domain name (the IP address above is for microsoft). Either way, you get a list of the return times for each hop from your ISP to somewhere else beyond your ISP.

No, ping isn't necessarily reduced by a better speed.
