Traditionally your main internet connection should go into the router FIRST and then the router should distribute internet access to devices on its network.

It seems you want to use your PC as the initial 'route point' before the actual wireless router. This might not be possible as your PC most likely does not have an internal router or the internal hardware to do so.

That said, it seems feasible to:

1) Connect your dialup connection to the wireless router

2) Connect your PC to the wireless router via the ethernet cable

2b) Connect wi-fi devices to the router

As with all wireless networks expect some 'teething' issues before everything is running smoothly.

(You may need to tweek your router settings as by default they are set-up for faster connections than dial-up)

If you lose connection to the internet on your main PC, you can always fall back to your original working configuration (dial-up straight to your PC) so that you can do more research on your network problem(s).

I wish you the best of luck.

The easiest way is to set up Internet Connect Sharing on the PC and link the laptop to it with an Ethernet Crossover cable. Details are in your help files. It's not worth the trouble of trying to get a router to work with a dialup connection.. a few will, most won't
