If they are in close enough proximity of each other, just trunk the switches between offices. If they are far, as another poster said, VPN tunnel is the best candidate. This would require advanced switches or routers to do. A good IPSEC tunnel works the best between sites unless you happened to need routing protocol traffic to pass between sites. Also, many providers offer MPLS networks, they do all the leg work and you just pay them for the internet access. Basically they run a form of VPN on the backbone and run a routing protocol (usually BGP) to route between sites for you.

Hi,

Firstly, to the other people "answering" this - hey... chill, will you?

Ok, this one is not really hard, but I don't think you can do that on you own. There are some questions here. How far are the buildings apart? Close? Then - if allowed (landlords, city planning and so ;-) ...) roll out some yards of your own and hook these up. Did that, it works. You need to have a switch in each building, one port is for the inter-building cable, the other ports are for all the other stuff in that building.

This is one option. If these buildings are too far away (other blocks, cities even) - you'll need to resort to setting up a VPN. Perhaps these pages can help http://www.chicagotech.net/vpnsetup.htm and http://www.metacafe.com/watch/1267816/how_to_setup_a_vpn/ (the latter one is a video tutorial)

If this is "latin" for you, do seek advice from pro's in the field. But for this situation, I'd go for the VPN...

Happy networking!!

Why would you feel the need to greet first in your question?
