This is what the log to the network diagnostic says
WHAT DO I DO??

HTTP: Error 12007 connecting to www.microstoft.com: The server name or address could not be resolved
HTTPS: Error 12007 connecting to www.microsoft.com: THe server name or address could not be resolved
FTP (Passive): Error 12007 connecting to ftp.microsoft.com: the server name or address could not be resolved
Http: Error 12007 connecting to www.hotmail.com: the server name or address could not be resolved
FTP(Active): Error 12007 connection to ftp., microsoft.com: the server name or address could not be resolved
HTTPS: error 12007 connecting to www.Passport.net: THe server name or address could not be resolved
could not make an http connection
could not make an https connection
could not make an ftp connection

Whoa, yeah you are. Try setting your Internet connection settings in IE7 to Always connected, instead of using a proxy.



It also sounds like your having these errors because of a recent infection by viruses. On the site they have a security update you can try, I'll list here too.



Another thing you may want to do is put in your XP disc, reboot your computer, press any key, say you want to setup Windows XP, and do a "Repair Installation." This will replace all the OS files that were damaged. It won't make you have to reinstall your programs, they will be left alone along with your documents.

Right click on Network Neighborhood and go to properties.

In the connections window right click on your LAN (if you happen to use a LAN connection)

Open your LAN connections and change the TCP/IP address and DNS to automatic.

Or call up your ISP if they have assigned any IP to you.
