Can I switch off my wireless router in the ebning?
I turn off my modem every night, and its connected to the same plug as my router, the reason for me turning it off iuis its in my bedroom and the flashing lights drive me mad so have to turn it off, but worried if I keep switchcing the router off it will cause a problem?
Ive never had a problem with the modem bein g switched on and off.
Thanks
Steve

Ps) If it will cause problems, I will stick blue tack or something on the lights, how much elecy do they use??? are the expensive to have on 24/7 as I do unplug everything when I am not around, and dont see point in having it switched on for 12 hours peer day when im at work, its already got security on it, it just took me ages to install so really dont want it to lose its setting... any advice? Thanks

if blinking lights bother you, just flip the unit the opposite direction or put the unit on the floor or another trick you can try is put a folding christmas card in front of it, Lol !!

No, they do not consume enough power, to start adjusting an electric bill.

I sure do understand you not wanting blinking lights, etc. while you sleep. Me to. The darker, the better.

Modem's and Routers are designed to run. No need to turn off and on. With that being said, you really should have no problem turning off and then back on.

If for some reason you end up with an issue. Simply power everything down. Modem, Router and PC. Then power back on in this order.

Modem - Wait until up and running.

Router - Wait until up and running.

Then the PC.

Is there any way you can put a piece of black electrical tape across the lights?

Good Luck and Happy Computing!

There is no on/off switch on routers that I have ever seen and I am a PC tech and hooked up many home networks. The only option you pretty much have is to unplug the router when you are not using it. Hope this helps

To my know-how there has no longer been any conclusive study coach ill outcomes to 2.4 GHz radio waves.
