I have a home network and i've setup permissions etc so any computer in the MSHOME workgroup is required to enter my username and password to access my shared folders. After that computer had access and they close the shared files window, my shared files can still be accessed without the user logging in again. Is there a way to make the username and password prompt be everytime someone wants to access the network? I am using windows xp professional

Go to my computer

Click on Tools and then folder options

click on the view tab

there is a list of things you can check and uncheck - scroll all the way to the bottom and UNCHECK "use simple file sharing".

Restart the computers

When this is checked, any computer accessible on a private network is allowed access to any part of any computer on the same network without login credentials.

Cookies have NOTHING to do with MD5 authentication which is part of windows. Cookies only related to websites.

MD5 challenge logins are ONLY cached until the computer being accessed is restarted.

No there isn't. When you access files on the network and supply a username and password to access them, Windows caches that password within the active session.

For example, if a user logged onto his/her computer, went into your shared files and gave your username and password to access that folder, he'd have access to your computer throughout the time that he/she is logged on onto his/her computer.

Once users log off, their Windows will forget the password they supplied and they would need to supply it again.

If you're looking for that kind of security, download and install FileZilla: http://filezilla-project.org/

This would host an FTP server on your computer through which you can download the files and once you log off, you'd need to supply the user credentials again.

deploy a instant router in the residing house as long as you're subscribed to DSL or Cable information superhighway. Then deploy a instant computer card into the computer or use a instant USB gadget. Linksys makes a stable product for such purposes. basically be certain you setup the WPA protection advantageous factors. there is not any would desire to offer away your information superhighway connection for loose. substitute the producing unit defaults too for the admin password adn router call.

Dear Sir,

I need somemore details to fix this issue. We can configure this feature in Window Domain Server environment. however, in local workgroup we might need some other setting, for which we need more details.

Please mail me your IM details (Yahoo, Skype, MSN, GTalk) to sriram@support1000.com

Thanks

Sri
