Wifi signal strength vs internet speed?

Which is more important for performance, signal strength or DSL speed. For example, will having 100% signal strength with a 1.5mbps DSL speed be faster then 50% signal strength with 3.0mbps DSL speed.

I have a wireless g router to connect my PS3 to the internet and I would like it to be faster. The router is located upstairs and the PS3 is downstairs and it has to remain that way. The signal strength is not that great, so would upgrading my DSL speed really make a difference? Or would it be better to get a wireless repeater to boost the signal for downstairs?

you should get a better router so you get a better signal...when I'm father away from my router like in my room it goes alot slower...I would get a n router....I like netgear routers alot...Though dsl speed may do some difference...I don't think it will be too noticeable though...alot of times thay say it will go like 10 times faster when really it goes the same speed...

The answer is to determine your bottleneck.

Internet 1: 1.5 mbps

Internet 2: 3.0 mbps

802.11b : 11.0 mbps

Making a rough guestimation that a 50% signal strength would reduce speed by 50% (not actually true, but worthy of a rough guess) then 50% of 802.11b > either Internet connection.

you choose ethernet because: + It has high speed then usb otherwise, both usb and ethernet need wire, usb is NOT wireless so you go for ehternet
