Recently I've been having Internet problems. I think the problem stems from dns issues as if I put in the ip of a website it works (most of the time) it's been on and off (some days it works regularly) I've tried resetting router, assigning manual dns servers, restarting everything, cleared dns cache so far nothing works. Any ideas?

Somehow we are missing something here. If you have been messing with the router suggest you push that very small reset button with a paper clip for 30 seconds. Then if this is a wifi router give it an SSID and a security key and leave it alone.

If you are using this wired, think about the times that you get kicked off. Look at the DSL or cable modem and see if some of the lights are out. That means your ISP has dropped the ball again. Nothing you can do but call. If you have DSL and the phone rings, it that when it quits? If so you need to replace the filters that should be on every phone plug in the house used or not. These things can be killed by a voltage surge.

IF this is wifi, how far from your router are you. Walls and floors kill the signal.

Look at the wifi icon at lower right and click view all networks. Is a neighbor's wifi showing? You both may be using the same wifi channel. Change the channel on the router.

Do you have a cordless phone? That will do it too. Again change the channel.

A few things to think about.

these days the FBI shutdown there temporary DNS servers for people who have been nonetheless contaminated with DNS Changer malware. i could run an entire virus test to confirm you're no longer contaminated with DNS Changer, actual this malware affected DNS call determination for contaminated machines.

Have you considerd scanning for spyware, the most common cause of misrouting?
