Question:
Ethernet port bug/broken?
2015-04-13 12:05:22 UTC
Basically I think my ethernet port is bugged/broken as when I plug my cable in it flashes green for like half a second then turns off. Im not sure if its like dirt got in there or not but I have tried with 2 different cables and got the same result. Just wondering If there is a quick fix for this and I think its stull working.

Other info:If there are no quick fixes to this I will get a USB ethernet port. I have already checked In device manager and everthing is up to date.

You might try a different cable, and make sure that the port in your router is working.

One more thing: I've seen laptop Ethernet ports damaged by pulling on the cable. The part that's anchoring the cable clip can get pulled out a little, resulting in a poor connection. Inspect your port: if you see that metal bent a bit, perhaps you can straighten it. Easy does it! And don't overdo it.

Personally, I need a magnifying glass to see this damage well. But my eyes are old.
