Ok, we had a big storm that messed up our connection. Everytime I try to connect to the internet on my Desktop it tells me that Internet Explorer Cannot Display the Webpage. Also when I look at the lower right side of my screen it says my connection is a Unidentified Network and it has No network access. We tried troubleshooting it and all it told us is that we needed to reset the Local Area Network. I thought it was the router and modem, but I was wrong reseting those did nothing. So we called Windstream, and they had someone come out and fix our internet. When he came out he fixed our wireless and switched our modem. But he said that the desktop won't find the network for some reason (He didn't even know what to do). I came in with my laptop and it connected fine to the network, and he said that is strange how the laptop will connect to the network wirelessly but the desktop cant connect when it was directly connected to the internet. He told me that this is beyond his work abilities and he didn't know what to do so he left. Now I am stuck with having wireless connection to all my other wireless things besides my desktop. I am putting my problem in the public and is hoping someone can help me with this problem. I would greatly appreciate it! I have a Windows 7 computer, a Gigaset 4300 Windstream Modem.

P.S. Thank you for taking your time reading this even if you didn't know that solution. I greatly appreciate it!

Im no computer expert like that "expert" (btw, Lol at him haha. fail) , but anyways, I could suggest something you could maybe try. Recently I had the same problem with my own laptop but with my wireless connection. It didn't pick up any signals at all from the modem, and when I tried resetting the modem it did nothing. So I did some searching around and found out the problem was within the wireless adapter itself, maybe you have the same problem? Anyways how i fixed my laptop was I went on to control panel> system> hardware> device manager. then i clicked on my wireless adapter and uninstalled it. I then rebooted the computer and on startup Windows automatically picked up my wireless adapter again and reinstalled it. This fixed my problem, btw I only have Windows XP so I dont know what its be like on Windows 7. Good luck.

i have a 4 month old dell with vista and am using IE v. 7.0.6001.18000 . when the computer goes into sleep mode, either manually or automaticly, it will not reconnect to the internet. i go thru the diagnose and repair routine. it then tells me that the server was pinged and got no response. it then suggests to reset the lan network adapter. then it is fine until it goes into sleep again. also, once in a while IE will freeze and become non responsive.

Is your computer a 32bit or 64..if it's a 32bit the 64 may not run right. look at the nic and see what it has on it..also reboot the modem and router if you have one.make sure the nic is enable right click on the local area connection left click on property click on configer at the top click on advance look for speed and duplex over to the right where it say value set that to 10mbs half

Try deleting and reinstalling the drivers for your NIC card in the desktop. You can also try a stack fix by going to command prompt and typing netsh winsock reset.
