The best thing to do is to purchase a repeater that will link to your current single router. Its simple to setup and works great...

The unit plugs in the wall for power and syncs to your wireless network amplifying the signal 150 ft.

follow the link link below for more details.

Yes you can connect two routers together; that is exactly what the Internet is, a huge mess of routers connected together. You connect them with network cabling. How exactly depends on the particular routers. You also have to give them appropriate addresses, or they won't talk to each other. A complete lesson in TCP/IP networking is a bit beyond what will fit in Answers though. Buy a book, or take a class. Might be able to provide more information if I knew exactly what it is you want them to do.

There's no way that I know of to have 2 routers connected like that. The only way I can think of to tell you to have internet on the computers downstairs is get an appropiate network adapter for the computers you need. Such as a USB network adapter. and you'll have internet on those computers.

You should NEVER use 2 routers on the same connection, they conflict, and can cause slow connections or even totally disrupt your connection. What you should use is a wireless access point connected to the original router, or a wireless range extender.

no no no it doesn't work like the you think having to routers you get a better signal...no way

You can attach a second router to connect to something personal such as a xbox 360, you find the ip address of the xbox and set it up to the router
