I have a guest house but the wireless network or wifi from the main house and surrounding areas is very weak and most times non-existent. What device, router, etc can I use to pick up wifi? If strong enough I would be able to access the wifi my city provides as well. I hope this question makes sense.

TP-Link offers a variety of devices that can boost your wireless network upto even kilometers.

I would recommend you find a reseller around you and inquire about 2.4GHz High Power Wireless Outdoor CPE.

They might even hook you up with an installer to make it easier for you.

Good Luck!......and, Yes! Your question makes sense!

I had the identical hassle with my house as the wireless router within the administrative center downstairs would not attain the upstairs of my apartment. What i finished up doing used to be running an ethernet cable from the downstairs wireless router by way of the apartment upstairs after which plugging that cable into the internet port of a 2nd wi-fi router adding an extra wireless community upstairs that I could connect with. Growing your signal range wouldn't work from what it sounds so the one approach is so as to add a further wifi hotspot in the visitor house. There are a number of methods to do that however all of them require running a wire to the visitor house then utilising either one more wi-fi router or a signal booster kind gadget to allow these desktops to attach wirelessly.

You need a wireless repeater/range extender. It links to your router and rebroadcasts the signal.
