is there any way deleting files can be speeded up . i am trying to delete numerous files in various subdirectories in one go by selecting all and delete, in filezilla ftp program. this is going so slowly , i know that it will finish eventually. but it seems that the ftp program and server are going through a complicated request/response handshake thing for each file. can the server not just accept the request once and delete all the folders i have highlighted.

Many web servers use unix and by default any folder (sub-directory) cannot be deleted while it has files in it. It's a protection against accidents and works well.

I know it is a bit frustrating but each file delete command is sent to the remote server. If that's slow, it is perhaps under heavy load. If it is in the UK or USA you might get this done fastest at an early time in the day (eg from 6am to 8am) because UK users of the webserver will be on way to work/study and US users would likely be asleep. Without knowing more about which service it is, nothing much more to add, sorry.

ive in no way used dreamweaver or something like that, yet im guessing putting interior the positioning's code, like on Mozilla firefox you may flow to View>internet site source, and on IE uncertain yet i think of vew>source! and it may tutor you the code and each little thing, goodluck!
