my netgear router cannot connect to the internet though a dynamic IP (DHCP) is detected, why?

i've reset my netgear router (WGT624v3) to factory default state. after resetting, i am directed to the welcome page where i press ok. it detects my internet connection and gives me a page where it says that my dynamic IP (DHCP) is detected. however, after clicking next, the "could not connect to the internet" page pops up. it gives me three options of why that is: the "possible incorrect configuration setting" and "possible incorrect network restart sequence" and "possible smart wizard detection failure. i've restarted everything in their sequence, waiting exactly 2 minutes for my modem and 1 minute for my router and yet the same problems keeps reoccurring.

i've also did the part where i connect everything and on a browser page enter the 192.168.1.1 and enter the admin and password login info. i've done the basic settings. i've even set up my wireless settings (which is of no use since the router can't even connect to the internet).

basically, i've done everything i know and from what i researched online, and it still won't connect to the internet. please help me solve this issue. thanks so much in advance for your help!

LOL.

What my husband says above.

Ya don't bother with Netgear it's a real pain in the butt. Infact I did some research on it and it seems it will work for 1 out of every 3 people.

Read my post on Netgear from the other day:

My wife had the same issue days ago , she returned it back and got linksys router and everything is working great with her, i guess you should do the same , netgear is such a pain , from my experience i had a lot of issues with netgear too and eventually got another router "3com" which is working great with me.

Can you connect your PC directly to your modem?

If this works and connects you to the Internet then you have a problem with the router setup or it is faulty.
