Well I am struggling for quite some time to establish a proper signal as well as getting my VoIP to work properly. I basicaly got 2 different questions:

a) can I setup a NETGEAR Router to work via the BT HomeHub or a Belkin G+? If I understood correctly the Netgear is not a adsl modem as such but just a standalone router with wireless functionality.

b) I got VoIP from BT and I am trying to connect my HP iPaq voice messenger 514 to this service so I can receive call by simply connecting it to a wireless internet point. Well if it would work I would be here, would I? :) I got all the setting from BT (sip, Proxy, registrar and URI etc. etc.) the only thing that strikes me funny is that in the setup assistant for the phone there is no field to name the URI information, but then again as I am not sure what that is for I don't know if it is needed for that purpose at all.

Any tips would be very welcomed

Yes you are right its not an ADSL modem but just a router, your need to connect it to the BT home hub using a rj45 network cable, then you need to setup wpa security then you need to allow trusted ip addresses, to connect all types of wireless connections also make sure that your firewall allows your router to connect of all your computers, this fairly general explanation but hopefully give you an insight into what you need to do.

The bt router should connect easily, but do not use their software. If you have used it, uninstall it as it interferes with your wireless cards own utility. Use the web browser method. They should have provided you with a wireless phone for the voip, this is the way it has to work on the hub. Your pc needs to call the url given if you want to use voip from the machine. There is no setup for it on the router.

Check that your HUB login isnt the defaulr password, if it is, change it. Check that the WEP key you have is strong enough, if you look on line, you can find WEP key generators that will generate a valid WEP128 bit key for you that you will need to use in the wireless settings and in the hub. Check the wireless connection in the laptop, if you have diagnostic software, try and see if you can pinpoint the problem. I had a problem getting a connection until I change the default channel to one that had fewer people on it. I cant think of anymore issues that can cause a problem...
