Does it matter which wiress router (G or B) or to use if my internet connection speed is 1MB?

I am confused, I have high speed internet, 1MB (used to be 512K) but I see no difference between using a wireless B router or my Wireless G router, can someone explain how the choice of wireless router affects speed even if I am limited to my internet connection speed of 1MB.

The thing, is that, as you said, you will see no difference because the speed of the connection isn't too high, but you do will see a difference when you're far away from the router, but the big deal with b,g and the new Draft N (that works great) isn't the speed for going on-line(you will see -of course- a difference just when transferring files from one PC to another one), it's the range they have.

Well the thing is that there is not only the connexion between you and the world (Internet) there is something called Intranet or LAN which allow you to share documents with your other PCs and that 11Mb or 54Mb do make a difference there so if you do not use the local network then as you say there is no difference but basically that is the Idea.

In your case, since your Internet connection speed is low, it doesn't matter if you use 802.11b or 802.11g. 802.11b max speed is 11 mega bit per second while 802.11g max speed is 54 mega bits per second. However, there is a big difference in security. Many security experts agree that 802.11b's security is feeble, allowing hackers to break its encryption in 15 minutes or less.
