Is a job in networking or storage better ?

I have been particularly interested in SAN so i have joined a course .Now I have got a job opportunity in network monitoring . But now I am wondering, which among the both fields, networking and storage, would be a better choice in terms of time and money, as i am 2011 engg passedout and already lost 1 yr. will there be opportunity to switch to san in future.

Cloud storage is great to get into, but how do you get the data into cloud, or move anything anywhere on the net?

It's done through networking, and one of the other benefits of pursueing networking is you can add network security to your learning.

Networking is a bright career according to the knowledge I have. There are a wide number of opportunities for these candidates even during the times of recession. I am an engineering student and I particularly do not know what you meant by Storage?



My brother is in south africa and he earns 4000$ per month with oracle as his specialisation. If you were referring to that then it could be the pay you can expect for,



I have joined a networking course 2 months back and the pay package after my course is around 500$ per month in india. So in foreign countries it could go higher. If you are an VMWARE or cloud computing, then the packages reach the sky .. I simply suggest "oracle" or "networking+cloud computing"

According to me, both play an equal and important role. We cannot think a world without network or storage. Take cloud computing as an example, here both the space maintenance and network availability place an important role. If anyone fails what will happen? Will you able to continue your operation leaving anyone behind? So you can choose either one and become master in it. Instead of gaining less knowledge in both operations you can choose one.



Time and money for both operations could be slightly vary but for meeting SLA both plays a vital role and in case of issues both will eat your time until you bring it up.
