Hi, I am trying to set up a webpage under my domain.

I have purchased a domain
I have set up an index page
I think I have set up a DNS server (With Windows Web Server 2003)

When I use network tools to trace DNS server on my website, it returns with:

Retrieving DNS records for Domain.com...

DNS servers
n1.Domain.com [Server IP]
n2.Domain.com [Server IP]
ns1.Domain.com [Server IP]
ns2.Domain.com [Server IP]

Answer records
Domain.com NS gwp.dns 3600s
Domain.com SOA
server: gwp.dns
email: hostmaster@dns
serial: 2
refresh: 900
retry: 600
expire: 86400
minimum ttl: 3600
360

Problem is, when I try to open the website, it doesn't connect
When I try using anonymouse, it returns an either Error Timeout, or

Unable to determine IP address from host name

The DNS server returned:

Server Failure: The name server was unable to process this query.

Any ideas? Thanks!
P.S. I can't manage to get the Active Directory working due to the fact that Web Server edition's lack in DCPROMO

Oh, the name of the jargon that describes the address to forward would be most helpful, there are just sooo many I.P. Address fields.

Does you set-up DNS have the IP for your ISP DNS server?

I have a Smoothwall DNS proxy in which I set the 1st Proxy as my ISP dns server and 2nd as the smoothwall IP this enables my networked computer to ask the isp first for the IP and then 2nd request will take it from the proxy.

Web servers don't need DCPROMO this will set up a domain controller on the server and this is only needed when you have a workgroup of 10 or more clients (PCs).

If you needed a file server you should upgrade the server 2003 standard version which has file server and web server. Web server version is so your able to build a complete web server on one server which is good for security and performance.

By typing the IP address proves that it a DNS problem.

not sure what DNS has to do with port forwarding but anyway your ISP usually assigns you 2 DNS servers when you connect, some routers do DNS proxy and some do passive if it does proxy, you will see the IP of the router (only 1 IP) if its passive it will foward the DNS servers assigned by the ISP. If your 1 DNS server is the same as your default gateway in IPCONFIG /ALL then your router is proxying it and your router probably has both DNS servers in its config and you may be able to see it when you log in

DNS info takes up to 3 days to be updated... not likely but it does happen.
