We can switch the user accounts, if the system has more than one user account and both are logged in if we select Switch user option.

To know the user accounts listed on the laptop, just logoff the notebook, it will display available user accounts. If it does not have more than one user account, create user account from the below steps and then try to use switch user option.

It should work.

1. Open User Accounts by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking User Accounts and Family Safety, and then clicking User Accounts.

2. Click Manage another account. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

3. Click Create a new account.

4. Type the name you want to give the user account, click an account type, and then click Create Account.

Try adding a new user first. Sounds like you don't have more than one account, or you would likely have already seen a login screen that allows you to choose a different account at boot, and a logout button down next to Shut Down on the Start menu.

So go to Control Panel - Users and Add New User.

Start there, then you will be able to login as the new user you created.
