Hi there, I could do with some help on this. I set up a new Win XP based PC (downgrade from Vista), worked all fine. Internet connection (LAN) is fine. As soon as I start a VPN connection my PC shuts down and restarts. Why is that? Thanks!

Sounds like either a hardware or a software conflict. If you changed either of the two it would be the things to check.

How are you doing a VPN? Within Windows? Or are you using another companies software? Is the software compatible with that version of Windows?

The only other issue that I've seen with VPN's is that often the VPN Server (at a company office for example) often blocks access to any local area network that you are on. On one job I did - that basically shut down the Internet which killed the VPN. I had to call the company by phone and ask them to write specific VPN permissions to let my customer access his local LAN. But anyway that should not make a computer restart itself. Your problem sounds like a bad software conflict. Perhaps a virtual network interface driver (VPN makes a special - really non-existing network interface [a virtual interface].)

My spouse and i suggest making use of http://www.vpnpower.net to unblock web sites. I am using their services for more than 4 years without any troubles.

Could be the power supply or the MB
