why wont my Netgear router pick up my ipod?

My netgear router gives off the user name. So on my Itouch the name pops up under wifi options. but when i enter the password my ipod tell me "unable to join" how can i fix this? all the wires are plugged in, I think. My mom messed around with the wires. but regardless the user name pops up. Please help.

You're either too far away or you aint putting the right security key in.

The best way to resolve this is to reset your router. They should be a reset button on the back of your router, stick a pin in the hole, hold it down for 30 - 45 seconds, then power cycle the router, and the modem. Once the router, and modem are back up reconfigure your encryption, and secure your router. This should fix your issue, if not you may need to perform a firmware update on your router. Some times the routing tables gets corrupted.
