OK, i am trying to set up a cable router and now its asking if i hav estatic ip, dhcp, or pppoe. I have comcast internet so which one do I choose? Please help meeee

only your internet service provider knows what type of IP you have.Contact Comcast right away. they'll even walk you through in setting it up.

I believe Comcast is a cable modem service, so most likely DHCP. However, consult Comcast to be sure.

Most likely, you are using 1 or 3. My best guess is you are using 1. Before you had the router, how did you access the internet? Did you have to log in before using the internet? If Yes, use option 3 pppoe. Otherwise, if you were able to just use the internet without logging in... than use opt. 1.

Connect Modem [wired] to Router [wireless] to PCs.

=

Set router POWER OFF.

-

Reset modem: With a straightened paperclip, press RESET button momentarily.

-

Wait 60 secs.

-

Set router POWER ON.

-

Reset router: With a straightened paperclip, press RESET button momentarily.

-

Wait 60 secs.

PC Command Line:

-

Click [Start] - Click [Run...] - enter: cmd, Click [OK]

-

At the prompt (c:\.....>) enter: ipconfig /release, press [ENTER]

-

At the prompt (c:\.....>) enter: ipconfig /renew, press [ENTER]

-

TEST: Open Web Browser: Connect to Internet.

If SUCCESS: Repeat Steps after PC Command Line on other PCs.

If NO SUCCESS:

-

At the prompt (c:\.....>) enter: ipconfig /all, press [ENTER]

-

Ensure DHCP Enabled == YES

-

If IP Address == 0.0.0.0 OR 169.254.0.0 to 169.254.255.255, connect Modem [wired] to Router [wired] to PCs and perform ALL steps again.
