strange Networking Issue?

Hi guys,
I have a strange situation...In one set up I have one Dell Laptop, 3 Pcs connected to a 8 port hub, one machine is connected to Broadband through and ADSL. All machine's IPs are configured (192.168.0.1 and so on) properly and they share files, Internet without any problem.
All machines are with registered Windows XP having registered Antivirus.
Now, when I connect them and the ADSL to a 16 port Dlink switch, reconfigure the IP (192.168.1.2 and so on), uninstall the USB ADSL, they neither share files nor share interent. But on one machine in which the ADSL was previously connected through USB, the Net runs fine. The laptop lan connection goes in to suspended mode, I mean, it shows connected for a while and then disconnected all the time or frequently connect and disconnect. The switch end connection light blinks.
I reconnected the machines to hub, reconfigured the IPs, It started working fine.

The same switch and ADSL works fine in other set up having 5 windows XP machine (ADSL and machines to the Switch, machines are configured 192.168.1.2 and so on).

So there is no problem with the switch or ADSL (the ADSL is set up in multi user mode), neither there is problems in cables, socket as they are working fine using hub.

I've tried using DHCP of the ADSL and my network cards but without result.
Any solution guys?

First of all I wouldn't use the hub, it's shared media meaning if it's a 10mbit hub all clients share 10mbits.

Do you have an ADSL modem/router with 4 ethernet ports or more? I would use those ethernet ports and if you must connect the switch to an uplink port to extend your network.

Start by setting up your network on the modem/router, define which network you want to use 192.168.1.0 or 192.168.0.0. Enable DHCP so all clients get an IP from the router. It sounds like in your manual setup your're not defining the proper default gateway.

You don't have any configured VLANs on the switch do you? Look at the IPs of the computers in the section that you say the switch works in. What are the differences? There is a properties section, on the network connection, that allows you to deselect the option to have windows turn off the device to save power. I would make sure that is turned off.

it might desire to be a surge protector that would transforming into a concern, as different computing gadget are working with switches and once you convey a similar computing gadget and connecting promptly it works effective. call the electrician and verify the cable line in that area and if available replace the T-connector too.
