Recently I got Borderlands 2 / Pre Sequel for my xbox one . I've noticed connection problems in this that I've noticed in GTA ... nobody can join me ?? I can join people just fine , but when it comes to me being host , it doesn't wanna cooperate. It's really weird because yesterday it was working great for about six hours and then it stopped working. My NAT type is strict with an ethernet but moderate when wireless (not sure why??) . so out of all of this info , I figured my NAT had to be the reason why it was messing up . So I decided to open ports . Now , im not an expert at this stuff , but I have a bit of an idea of what I'm doing . So after setting up the ports , it actually made things worse . I was connected to the router , but the router wasnt connected to the internet so it was basically useless ( had to reset my router to factory, couldnt log back in ) . I set up my xbox one to be a static IP and put it in the DHCP reservation or whatever its called !! I also did all the ports correctly & put in my xboxs IP in the IP portion of the port forwarding section. so what am I doing wrong ? somebody said it could possibly be my firewall ?? I don't know what I'm doing wrong .. I have a Linksys EA6200 by the way . help appreciated.

When you allocate a static IP, it has to be outside the range of addresses that the router's DHCP service is configured to use.

You can port forward as you have been trying, or if you are port forwarding just to one device on your internal network, then you can use the DMZ feature of the router. This will forward all incoming connections to the device on the DMZ address.

Make sure that all your side of the gateway is public ip addressing for example 192.168.x.x and that you are giving out the address to connect as 86.x.x.x I'm not really seeing a reason why it shouldn't work but then again it's Microsoft :D good luck

Open NAT to resolve multiplayer and party problems... not Strict NAT
