How to add a comp to network with MAC authentication ?
I use wireless in my house and my internet provider set up my network using MAC authentication. I forget how he told me to add a comp to my network. I know I need to go to run on my start menu but I cant remember what else I need to do. Can anyone help me out?

You can see the MAC address of a computer by going to

start menu --> run --> in the box write "ipconfig/all" --> the number next to "PHYSICAL ADDRESS" is the machine's MAC. Then you have to get the router to add your new MAC to its exception list so its not blocked.

If you've forgotten how to do the rest of this stuff you probably won't remember your router password or name, so reinstall the router software (look for a CD that came with the router) and set up an account and password. Then open the router management from your newly reinstalled software, find the MAC filter somewhere, and enter the MAC addresses you want permitted.

MAC address filtering is a pretty poor security system. People who wanted access to your network could trick your router and get access in about 60 seconds if they wanted. Try enabling WPA2 encryption instead; even the FBI has trouble with this and you only have to worry about remembering a password for your network, none of this complicated MAC crap.

Can you increase the scope of the DHCP server? That should correspondingly increase the number of macs that can be mapped, (one would think).
